The VERITAS Community School Board of Directors meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30PM.

Maria Leahy, Ed.D.

Maria Leahy is an Adjunct Professor and Program Coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  She was previously Associate Head of School at The John Crosland School in Charlotte.  She holds a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Ramesh Nayar, M.B.A. 

A Senior Vice President – Group Executive and Strategy Manager within the Enterprise Global Services group at Wells Fargo. He has been in the Financial Services industry for over 30 years at several leading institutions within the USA and overseas. He holds several degrees including an undergraduate degree in Chemistry & Biology, an MBA in Finance and a Masters in Accounting. He also holds several professional licenses and certifications. He has a passion for education and for supporting diversity related initiatives. He currently serves as the chairperson for the Asian Connection Team Member Network (Charlotte Chapter) at Wells Fargo.

Gary Webster


Since 1969, Gary Webster has been a Founding Member and Officer, Georgia Chapter International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP); Taught first classroom course leading to the Certified Financial Planner designation; Vice President of College for Financial Planning; President of Georgia Society of Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP); Vice President of ICFP: Chairman of ICFP Ethics and Professional Review Committee-nationally; Board Member of International Board for Certified Financial Planners (IBCFP); President of West Point Society of Atlanta; Vice President and twice Board Member of the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta; Served on two U.S. Military Academy Selection Committees for Georgia State Congressmen; Elder and Finance Committee Chair for Buford Presbyterian Church; taught senior level course on Management Information Systems at Georgia Institute of Technology as Guest Lecturer from Industry (IBM); hosted first PBS local TV program in Atlanta area on Financial Planning; Executive Assistant to President Emeritus of Kennesaw State University; and Assistant to the Chairman, South Eastern Regional Manpower Advisory Committee, U.S, Department of Labor.

Jason Cole, MA

For the past fifteen years, Jason Cole has worked in education. First, he served students as a science teacher at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy-CFA , teaching Earth Science, Biology, and AP Biology. He was then promoted to Facilities Director at Thomas Jefferson for one year before he was promoted to Principal of the Grammar School for Thomas Jefferson. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science with a concentration in Biology and a Masters of Art in School Administration. Both degrees were earned at Gardner-Webb University. Students at Thomas Jefferson consistently ranks at the top in the nation and in the state.

Amber Burke

Amber Burke has over 10 years of combined experience as a Regional Director/General Manager in the health and wellness industry.  She is the proud parent of a Veritas Community School scholar.

Faye Bishop

Faye Bishop holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Gardener Webb University. She is in her fifth year as Small Business Center Director at Isothermal Community College in Spindale. She finds the opportunity to work with people just starting a business as well as those already in business interesting and exciting. Prior to Isothermal, she spent over twenty years in the banking profession. She worked in Georgia and Alaska as well as North Carolina, starting as a teller and working her way to Branch Manager. One of her most enjoyable jobs was working as Area Manager and Trainer for Dale Carnegie Training in Western North Carolina. During her fifteen years with Dale Carnegie, she witnessed tremendous growth in leadership skills, positive attitudes, and self confidence in many individuals. She is also actively involved in her church as a Sunday school teacher and serves on the Board of Directors for the Church of the Exceptional in Forest City, North Carolina.
