The VERITAS Community School Board of Directors meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30PM.

Maria Marsella Leahy, Ed.D.

Maria Marsella Leahy, Ed. D. is a faculty professor, researcher, and program coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Understanding the importance of effective leadership and recognizing the unique responsibilities of leading in the charter school world, her research focus is charter school leadership. As a teacher and administrator, her passion has always been to best serve all children and families in collaborative and positive environment. Whether leading in the classroom, the school house, or the larger community, children always come first. She holds a Doctorate of Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Gary Webster

Since 1969, Gary Webster has been a Founding Member and Officer, Georgia Chapter International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP); Taught first classroom course leading to the Certified Financial Planner designation; Vice President of College for Financial Planning; President of Georgia Society of Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP); Vice President of ICFP: Chairman of ICFP Ethics and Professional Review Committee-nationally; Board Member of International Board for Certified Financial Planners (IBCFP); President of West Point Society of Atlanta; Vice President and twice Board Member of the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta; Served on two U.S. Military Academy Selection Committees for Georgia State Congressmen; Elder and Finance Committee Chair for Buford Presbyterian Church; taught senior level course on Management Information Systems at Georgia Institute of Technology as Guest Lecturer from Industry (IBM); hosted first PBS local TV program in Atlanta area on Financial Planning; Executive Assistant to President Emeritus of Kennesaw State University; and Assistant to the Chairman, South Eastern Regional Manpower Advisory Committee, U.S, Department of Labor.

Kristie Opiola

Kristie Opiola, Ph.D., LPC (Texas), RPT is an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She began her professional career as a certified child life specialist working with acutely and terminally ill children in hospital settings for 13 years. She switched careers and is currently teaching play therapy courses at UNC Charlotte. Her areas of teaching interest include play therapy, filial therapy, skill development, expressive arts. Research interests include play therapy and filial therapy with children who have experienced a variety of traumas (medical, relationship, adoption), community based play therapy interventions, and counselor-in-training skill development. Kristie is active in the Association for Play Therapy and Association of Humanistic Counseling.

Keri E. Revens, MS, CHES

Keri received a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Appalachian State University and a Master of Science in Nutrition, Physical Activity, & Public Health at the University of Bristol, England. Keri is a PhD candidate in Public Health Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she also works as a research assistant. Keri is a certified health education specialist (CHES) with experience in school health, community health, and corporate wellness. Keri’s research focuses on physical activity and mental health, immigrant health, and community-based participatory research. Keri has worked on research projects in the US, UK, Nepal, and Ecuador.

Catherine Hutasuhut is an Associate Attorney at Arnold & Smith, PLLC
